Vaidisova wins third consecutive title
Second seed Nicole Vaidisova became the first player this year to win titles in three consecutive weeks, as the Czech teenager denied top-ranked Russian Nadia Petrova a first WTA Tour crown with a nail-biting 6-1 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 victory at the Thailand Open
Vaidisova made the crucial breakthrough when she broke Petrova in the 12th game of the final set.
"I was very exhausted," said Vaidisova afterwards. "I played very good in the first set but I lost my rhythm a little bit."
Vaidisova had previously been a runner-up to Venus Williams in Istanbul earlier this year. In recent weeks the 16-year-old won titles in Seoul and Tokyo.
