Jo Konta qualified for the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International with a 4-6 6-1 6-4 victory over Ajla Tomljanovic
Konta lost the first set 6-4 as it appeared there might be a shock on the cards.
However, she made a confident comeback in the second set, going up 5-0 before her Croatian opponent had to leave for treatment on an injury, and took the set 6-1.
The British number one then raced into an early lead in the final set.
However Tomljanovic battled back to take the game to 4-4 but Konta held out to seal the third set 6-4.
"There wasn't a lot in it so I'm glad I stayed tough to come through that," the British player said after the match.
"It boosts the match fitness, every match is a battle."
Konta will now face the winner of the match between Ana Konjuh and Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals.
