Mauresmo only played two matches this week in Pensylvania as Maria Sharapova pullded out of the semi-final match with a shoulder injury and that could explain why the Top seed made 20 unforced errors in the opening set to give the lead to the Moscow native 6-3. It takes time to find a nice rythmn.
Zvonareva has a weakness she has to work on as the 6th seed can't accept being challenged, was so furious with herself , shouted at ball boys and the empire when Mauresmo opened the second set breaking her. Zvonareva's nerves allowed Mauresmo to relax more and dominate the next two sets with her amazing backhand while the Russian was improving on the mistake account.
Mauresmo defends her title with success and captured her 15th career trophy. After being world number one for three weeks and with 5 titles under her belt this season, whatever will happen in the WTA Championships next week it is fare to say this is Mauresmo's best year ever.
If we consider the 25-year old lost her father earlier in April this is simply amazing.
