The second Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) season starts with the new PTO European Open on May 6, and ahead of the event it has been announced that a new series will go behind the scenes with the sport’s best athletes during the 2023 season. The first episode of Beyond Human looks at the female and male contenders for the 2023 season and profiles the big PTO Tour races this year.

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has created a new docuseries that will follow the world’s best triathletes as they compete in the biggest and toughest races across the 2023 season.
The Beyond Human series will go behind the scenes with the sport’s best athletes, all hoping to be crowned the ultimate champion of endurance and the PTO world No. 1.
“Triathlon is the ultimate test of endurance,” explained PTO chief content officer Nick Shakinovsky.
“For those at the elite level, it requires athletes to push themselves beyond limits that most of us can only dream of, whilst facing all the challenges that the life of a professional athlete throws their way.
"Beyond Human will introduce you to the different personalities, what makes them tick and show you the superhuman lengths they are prepared to go to.
"This is not just the evolution of a sport, but the evolution of human endurance and ability, where only the very best and bravest athletes will succeed.”
The first episode of Beyond Human looks at the female and male contenders for the 2023 season and profiles the big PTO Tour races in Ibiza (May 6), Milkwaukee (4-5 August) and Singapore (19-20 August), looking at the top contenders, who could bounce back, and who could break through.
"I want as many people as possible to understand just what superhuman athletes triathletes really are, engage with their personalities and then care how they get on when they race," Shakinovsky told Sport Industry News.
"It’s why we’ve called our new season-long documentary series Beyond Human. And with conversations about sports content, docuseries and Netflix reverberating around the boardrooms of all sports organisations, I don’t believe the path to storytelling success is a one-size-fits-all.
"We’re not ready for a Netflix series in the same way as golf or tennis are, both sports have been around for a long time. We’re only off the back of our first-ever professional season so it’s important we’re easily found across all channels. We’re building the plane and flying it at the same time, so the real-time fan feedback is invaluable."
