Holland held off Katie Zaferes in an intriguing World Series final head-to-head in the Gold Coast to claim her maiden world crown.
This weekend turns her attentions to the new Super League Triathlon in Jersey.
And after a few weeks of celebration, the reality of her success is finally starting to sink in.
"Just this last few days it has been said a few times and it has got a nice ring to it!" she said.
"I had all of last year out with injury and that was really frustrating, watching from the sidelines.
"I started with a World Cup win in South Africa which was a nice indicator of where my form was at.
"But fourth at the Gold Coast felt a bit flat, I didn't do myself or the team that work with me justice.
"I went into the World Series and every race seemed to improve, but I couldn't believe that I would end up in a battle for the title and only 34 points between us."
This time last year, Holland had to watch on from the sidelines in Jersey through injury.
But after holding off Zaferes to claim the world crown, the 32-year-old, who claimed Olympic bronze in Rio, is excited to get started.
"It is different to be back here, excited to see what was going to happen. I was so impressed with it last year and so jealous of everyone else getting stuck in," she added.
"I desperately wanted in, had to wait a whole year but here I am.
"There has been a bit more interest in me and people I haven't seen in a while getting in touch.
"I have tried to enjoy it with my friends and family and had a party at home, to have a celebration and bit of champagne has been drunk which I think is OK at this point.
"It's all a great part of being world champion."
