The Novoselov brothers scored 394.50 points at the Nambu University Aquatics Centre to secure the gold medal on Sunday – beating silver medallists China by 6.15 points. Hosts Korea won the bronze medal ahead of fourth-place Mexico.
China secured a one-two in the women’s platform final with Ying Wang beating compatriot Han Wang to gold ahead of Japan’s Mai Nakagawa.
On a busy day at the aquatics centre there were additional gold medals for Ukraine, Brazil, Japan, the USA, Kazakhstan and China in the pool.

Sergeii Frolov of Ukrain won the men’s 800m freestyle, Brazilian Henrique De Souza Martins won the men’s 50m butterfly, Junya Hasegawa won the men’s 100m backstroke and Dmitriy Balandin won the men’s 100m breastroke.
In the two women’s swimming finals there were victories for Lisa Bratton of the USA in the 200m backstroke and Ying Lu in the 50m butterfly. Lu’s win was the performance of the day, the 26-year-old winning in a Universiade record time of 25.72 seconds.
China tasted further success on the first day of the shooting competitions, with Zhiguo Liu winning the men’s 10m air rifle final at the Naju Jeollandamno Shooting Range. In an enthralling contest, Liu beat fellow Chinese athlete Haoran Yang by just 0.2 points.
There were also victories for China in both the men’s and women’s 10m air rifle team events, while Iran’s Najmeh Khedmati won the women’s 10m air rifle competition.
Italy’s Silvana Maria Stanco triumphed in the women’s trap ahead of compatriot Federica Caporsucio before the pair secured gold in the women’s team event alongside team-mate Valeria Raffaelli ahead of Russia.
There were judo gold medals for Japan’s Megumi Tsugane (womens -63kg), Russia’s Khasan Khalmurzaev (men’s -81kg) and Korean pair Seongyeon Kim (women’s -70kg) and Donghan Gwak (men’s -90kg).
And finally, France dominated the fencing finals at the Kimdaejung Convention Centre with Jeromine Mpah Njanga beating Russia’s Svetlana Tripapina in the women’s foil and compatriot Yannick Borel coming out on top over Virgile Marchal in an all French men’s epee final.
Borel took control early in the match before romping to a 15-11 win over his compatriot a day after French also won the women’s individual epee competition. Mpah Njanga had to stifle an impressive comeback from her Russian opponent Tripapina before coming out on top 15-13.
