De Vries claims title after perfect weekend at Le Castellet

Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship leader, Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) secured the title after a dominant weekend with two victories at the Paul Ricard circuit.

The Dutchman, a member of the McLaren Young Driver Development Programme, started off the event as he meant to continue, setting the quickest time in the collective tests on Friday,
On the 'Plateau du Castellet', his best lap of 2:04.116 saw him lead the way ahead of Louts F1 Junior Team driver Alexander Albon (KTR), who dominated the morning session.
On Saturday, De Vries claimed his first win, starting on pole and going on to take the chequered flag ahead of Egor Orudzhev (Tech 1 Racing) and Lotus F1 Junior Team protégé Alexander Albon.
De Vries claimed the title with a repeat performance in race two, starting on pole and finishing ahead of Aurélien Panis (ART Junior Team) and Orudzhev.
He now holds an unassailable lead in the series, clinching the title just a few weeks after claiming the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS crown.
