Give us two laps, says WTCC racer Chilton
Tom Chilton expects he and his fellow FIA World Touring Car Championship drivers to master the all-new Ningbo International Speedpark within two laps.
The Chinese venue hosts the WTCC for the first time from 13-15 October but Chilton doesn’t expect to encounter too many issues adapting to the untried layout even though simulator running has been delayed while the track is completed.
“With all new tracks it’s very hard to gauge braking points and turning-in points,” the Sébastien Loeb Racing-run Briton explained. “It’s very hard to get any special awareness so it’s going to be a case of running around the circuit and taking it from there. But as we’ve seen before, we get in a car and after two laps we’ve learned the track even if we might have a bit of oversteer or understeer to deal with.”
WTCC Race of China takes place from 13-15 October.
