WTCC TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy: Chilton on top
Opening Race winner Tom Chilton claimed the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy at WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan thanks to his striking pace during a dominant victory at Twin Ring Motegi.
The British driver, who leads the WTCC Trophy for independent entries, managed a lap of 2m09.388s on his way to a 13.1s win in his Citroën C-Elysée WTCC. He was one of only three drivers to dip below 2m10s in the streaming conditions.
The shortened Main Race took place in worsening conditions and no one got close to Chilton’s fastest lap in the first encounter of the day.
