Fenninger and Hirscher win final Crystal Globes in Lenzerheide

Austria had plenty to celebrate on the final day of the alpine skiing World Cup season as Anna Fenninger and Marcel Hirscher both took victory to wrap up the last remaining Crystal Globes.

Fenninger wrapped up the overall World Cup title with a second in the super-G on Thursday and the 24-year-old wasn't to be denied a fine ending to a fine season in the giant slalom three days later.
The Austrian, who won super-G gold and giant slalom silver at last month's Winter Olympics in Sochi, took victory in 2:01.28 minutes in Lenzerheide for her second Crystal Globe of the season.
Teammate Eva-Maria Brem took second while Jessica Lindell-Vikarby, Fenninger's biggest challenge for the giant slalom World Cup title, had to make do with third.
Fenninger finished with 518 points for the Crystal Globe with Lindell-Vikarby 26 behind and there was further drama before then involving Hirscher in the men's slalom.
Fellow Austrian Hirscher, like Fenninger the overall World Cup champion, beat nearest challenger Felix Neureuther to claim the slalom Crystal Globe by 15 points ahead of the German.
Hirscher posted 2:07.74 from his two runs, Neureuther only managing 2:08.50 for second, while there was no keeping Austria down with Mario Matt third in that slalom.
While Fenninger upgraded from second place in the giant slalom World Cup from last season, Hirscher defends his slalom crown having won the overall World Cup for third successive time.
