Jansrud clinches first downhill World Cup race of season

Norway's Kjetil Jansrud edged out Manuel Osborne-Paradis and Guillermo Fayed to clinch the opening alpine skiing downhill World Cup race at Lake Louise, Canada.
With reigning champion Aksel Lund Svindal injured the Norwegian skier was able to come out on top with a time of 1:50.20 minutes after two runs.
That was 0.14 seconds faster than both Canadian Osborne-Paradis and Frenchman Fayed who shared second with 1:50.34.
The top five was completed by Italy’s Dominik Paris, who recorded a time of 1:50.61, and America’s Marco Sullivan with 1:50.68.
The win means Jansrud takes an early lead in the overall standings with 100 points while Osborne-Paradis and Fayed both have 80.
