Not since the days of Vreni Schneider had a woman dominated the World Cup slalom scene, but American Shiffrin is well and truly a force to be reckoned with.
Shiffrin sat second after the first run with Swede Frida Hansdotter leading the way, however she did enough in her second run to come home in a total time of 1:34.08 minutes.
This was not only good enough to see her beat Hansdotter by 0.05 seconds, but also saw her add the World Cup crown to the World Championship title she already picked.
Completing the podium in Meribel was Slovakian Veronika Velez Zuzulova, meaning Tina Maze had to settle for fourth.
However, all is not lost for Maze as she stretched her lead over Austrian Anna Fenninger in the overall standings as the latter could only finish 23rd.
Defending champion Fenninger trails Maze by 18 points heading into the final event.
