Ennis-Hill has not competed since July 2013, having given birth to her first son Reggie during her time away from athletics.
But the 29-year-old will return to the limelight when she takes to the track for the 100m hurdles at the Great CityGames on May 9.
It will be Ennis-Hill’s first major test of 2015 and there will be huge interest in her form as she prepares for her return to the seven-event heptathlon at the Hypo Meeting at Gotzis in Austria later that month.
"I'm really looking forward to making my competitive return at the Great CityGames Manchester," she said. "The atmosphere is always amazing there.
"Street athletics is a lot of fun, not only you are really close to the fans, but the energy around the Morrison’s Great Manchester Run weekend is fantastic, as the elite races and the mass participation run bring the city together in a celebration of running."
