Czech's power to biathlon relay victory

The Czech Republic women's relay team clinched their second biathlon relay win in a row with victory in difficult conditions at Ruhpolding, Germany.

The foursome of Eva Puskarcikova, Gabriela Soukalova, Jitka Landova and Veronika Vitkova used nine spare rounds and finished in a time of 1:23:57.7 in the 4x6 km relay.

That was 1:13.3 better than their nearest rivals from Belarus and 1:39.3 better than third-placed Germany.

The Czechs controlled the first leg with Puskarcikova perfect with ten shots out of ten.

With conditions worsening the Canadians and Poles fell off the pace and Germany and Belarus were left to battle it out for second.

As the Czechs pulled further away Belarus' Darya Domracheva showed her strength and left the Germans behind to seal silver for her team.

The result leaves the Czechs top of the Nation Cup standing after nine competitions, with Germany second and Belarus third.
