Billy Smith commits suicide

Billy, aged 35, was due to box in his 159th professional contest this weekend.

'Gypsy Boy' Smith's 19th bout this year saw him get the better of Mark 'Pee Wee' Adams as he continued to establish his burgeoning reputation in the sport.

Smith (13-106-2) had rolled back the years for his first win since February 2008 as referee Robert Williams scored the win over Adams 40-37 in his favour.

Though he suffered over 100 defeats in his career, he was only knocked out eight times.
