After an encouraging start on day one, Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell, Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker were in fine form as they clocked 4:16.989 to see off Canada.
With the world record in sight the team will now square off with Australia in the gold-medal race after the Aussies saw off New Zealand with a time of 4:17.396.
There as more success in the men's field where Ed Clancy, Steven Burke, Owain Doull and Andy Tennant beat Germany to set up a clash with New Zealand.
There was disappointment however for Jason Kenny who was sixth in his heat and then failed to progress through the repechages where he finished second behind Nikita Shurshin.
Thursday's evening session will see both pursuit team's in action as well as the women's 500m time trial final and the men's scratch race final.
