Former Eurosport commentator David Duffield dies at 84

Respected former Eurosport cycling commentator David Duffield died on Sunday at the age of 84.

Duffield, who commentated on major cycling events for Eurosport for a number of years, passed away following complications after he suffered a heavy fall.
Current cycling commentator Carlton Kirby announced the news on Sunday afternoon.
"Just heard my dear friend David Duffield has died," Kirby said on Twitter. "He passed away this morning following injuries sustained in a heavy fall. Saddest of news."
Born in May 1931, Duffield established himself as an accomplished amateur cyclist in the 1950s - even claiming a number of British records in tricycle racing. He subsequently moving into commentary while simultaneously maintaining a number of interests within the cycling industry, including helping to bring BMX bicycles and the Raleigh Chopper to a British market.
His inimitable commentary style was credited with helping foster the boom in interest in the sport in the 1990s, with his relationship with Eurosport spanning more than a decade.
The news of Duffield's passing was met with a number of heartfelt tributes from fans of cycling.
