The Frenchman took to Facebook to post pictures of himself, with bloody marks on his face and a nasty injury to his arm following the incident which occurred on a training ride.
The 30-year-old, who was 14th at both the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix this month, wrote he had "a broken nose, a rib in a sorry state and bruises all over the body".
There were no other details given about the incident but he added: "On top of the physical injuries, I'm above all shocked."
"I'm not angry, I'm just sad to say that I hope my children don't take up this great sport that I love, I don’t want my kids to practise it … it’s too dangerous.
You leave in the morning to go training but never know if you'll be coming back.
"I’m just sad to realise, that in this country [France] of the Rights of Man, the rights of cyclists are ignored.”
