The Briton won his first title in 2013 but crashed out of the race 12 months later before bouncing back in style during this year's edition.
There he claimed his second title and is now looking to claim back-to-back crowns ahead of a huge year which will also see him target the Olympic road race and time trial at Rio 2016.
But Froome says that, while he was spurred on by failure in 2014, this time around he will have to approach things in a different manner altogether.
"Those disappointments are fantastic – that's what picks me up, motivates me," he told Cycling News.
"I go home, analyse why things went wrong. I really feel that gives me a lot of motivation to come back even stronger the next opportunity I get.
"What's more tricky is trying to stay motivated and even trying to improve when things have gone well for you.
"It's quite easy to fall into the trap of becoming complacent. You say, 'I've won the Tour de France, I'll just go in next year and try and do the same again'. But it doesn’t work like that.
"I'm going to have to try and be better next year, I've got to look at everything – every factor, my nutrition, my training, everything – to be ready for the Tour de France, and try and do it better than I have in the past."
