Mark Cavendish won Friday's second stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour to take the lead in the race which finishes on Sunday.
The 31-year-old from the Isle of Man, second in last Sunday's road race at the Road World Championships, won in a sprint finish.
Cavendish (Team Dimension Data) finished ahead of Team Sky's Elia Viviani and Andrea Guardini (Astana) at the end of the second 115-kilometre stage.
"I'm happy with that," Cavendish said.
"We wanted to win today. I felt good. It was a very chaotic sprint in which I lost my lead out in the second last corner.
"I thought 'that's it', but we got back on. I was happy to be behind Sky in the last corner and pass them."
Saturday's 150km third stage concludes with an 11km climb, where Cavendish is expected to lose the race leader's red jersey.
