Argyle central defender and skipper Curtis Nelson scored an 81st-minute equaliser to cancel out Jay Simpson's sensational fourth-minute volley.
Adams said: "It was a good performance. We dominated for large spells after they scored an absolute stunner of a goal in the first half.
"It was a fantastic strike from Simpson and he's a top quality player - a very good goal from him.
"The first half was all our's. We missed an open goal and another chance in the first half, but I'm very happy with the performance and the way we played. We probably should have scored in the first half.
"In the first half it was only us in the game. I didn't think that Leyton Orient troubled us.
"In the second half they obviously came into the game a wee bit. Christian Walton has had a couple of good saves from our errors, but overall it was another excellent performance.
"We put them under a lot of pressure in the end and we got our rewards with Curtis scoring from a very tight angle.
"It's difficult in this league because you're going to get games where teams are going to come and it's going to be rough and tumble.
"Teams are going to come and stop the match and that's what happened here.
"We got a point in the end. I think you've got to look at it in the cold light of day, with where we've come from to get a point."
Simpson's strike took his League Two tally to 14 goals in style and the draw elevated Ian Hendon's side up to sixth place.
Hendon said: "I think we should have extended our lead.
"John Marquis got in a couple of times and had good opportunities and their keeper has made more saves than our's, that's for sure.
"Three that I can remember were good saves and Alex (Cisak) hasn't really had that much to do all evening.
"It was a good performance and played out how we thought it would in the first half and we knew we would get more chances at they came at us in the second half.
"I have never doubted our ability to be up there but I saw a different side to my players. They had a right go and should have won the game.
"It was a great goal by Jay. He hit it on the half volley and it went straight into the top corner. I don't think many keepers would have stopped that, it was a great finish.
"We planned on coming here defending well and we had something to hang on to, and limited them to very few chances.
"It's important that we get a win against Wimbledon on Saturday and that's what we focus on now."
