Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the north London club will offer a new contract to midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The 24-year-old was sent out on loan to Bournemouth in the summer in the hope of gaining a regular run of top-flight football after years beset by injury problems, and Wilshere has impressed so far on the south coast.
There’s still plenty to do for the England international to force his way back into contention for the Arsenal first team, but Wenger says he has seen enough to offer a contract extension, with just a year remaining on Wilshere's current deal.
“I am happy that he is developing well,” Wenger said. “It was a good decision for him to go to get regular football.
“He is getting stronger every week and that is exactly what he needed. When a player like Jack is in top form, you miss him.”

Wilshere broke through into the Arsenal squad in 2008 after coming up through the youth ranks, but a number of injury problems have hampered his progress.
Even so, the midfielder's natural ability has seen him make over a hundred appearances for the Gunners and rack up 34 international caps.
