Hamburg have signed Netherlands winger Romeo Castelen from Feyenoord for 3 million euros.
The 24-year-old right-sided midfielder has penned a three-year, 1.6 million euro per season deal to join compatriots Rafael van der Vaart, Nigel de Jong and Joris Mathijsen at the club.
"We're delighted that Romeo has joined us and we're sure that he's going to strengthen us," HSV sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer said on the club wesbite.
Surinam-born Castelen has 10 caps for Holland but failed to make the 2006 World Cup squad due to injury and barely featured for Feyenoord last season. He is a direct replacement for Iran winger Mehdi Mahdavikia, who was not offered a new contract by the club and moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in June.
The former Den Haag player has joined Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan and Congo youngster Kosi Saka at the club, who finished seventh in the Bundesliga after spending the first half of the season stuck in the drop zone.
