Borussia Dortmund deny Ilkay Gundogan on verge of Manchester United move

Gundogan, whose contract with the Bundesliga club expires in 2016, is rumoured to be a target for several clubs across Europe, and speculation had been rife that a deal could be announced as early as this weekend for the £25m-rated midfielder.

But Dortmund director Michael Zorc rubbished such talk in an interview with Germany's Sky Sports News.

"Usually we won't comment on these rumours, but there is such a grotesque number that we have to say this once: There is no signature, no contract, no offer, no request and not even any contact," said Zorc.

"My last contact with Manchester United, and I say this openly and honestly, took place in November 2014 and was about something else entirely."
