Former Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has been told he has no future at Hamburg.
Hamburg chief executive Dietmar Beiersdorfer is quoted on the club's official website as saying that the Dutch international will leave the Bundesliga club when his deal expires in June.
Van der Vaart, now 32, returned to Hamburg from Tottenham in August 2012. He has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer in the USA with Sporting Kansas City declaring an interest in the player, but a second spell at first club Ajax apparently remains an option if he opts to stay in Europe.
Hamburg team-mate Marcell Jansen is also heading out of the exit door at the Imtech Arena while there is doubt over the futures of Heiko Westermann and Slobodan Rajkovic.
"We have already talked with Van der Vaart, Jansen, Westermann and Rajkovic about our planning," said Beiersdorfer.
"Rafael and Marcell know that we will not open talks about a contract extension with them.
"Regarding Heiko and Slobodan, we have postponed the decision and communicated it to the players as well."
