Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been ruled out of their Champions League opener at Manchester City after his knee problem flared up again.

The Frenchman made his first appearance of the season, coming of the bench to score during Bayern's 2-0 win over Stuttgart on Saturday, but skipped Sunday's post-match training session and will miss Wednesday's Group E opener against the Premier League champions.
"Ribery will not take part in the final training session," Bayern coach Pep Guardiola admitted. "He is at home and cannot play.
"The doctor saw him on Monday and said he cannot play."
Ribery, 31, missed the first two weeks of the season with a knee injury and could well find himself being rested between matches as he feels his way back to full fitness.
Guardiola did, however, say that Arjen Robben - who missed Saturday's game with a knee problem - was fit and had been included in the squad.

The Spanish tactician will need to reshuffle his defence with Holger Badstuber tearing a thigh muscle tendon during the game. The Germany defender is set to undergo surgery, having missed 20 months of football with consecutive serious knee injuries.
As a result, new signing Mehdi Benatia could feature, with Guardiola saying he had trained well in recent days following his arrival from Group E rivals Roma.
There was good news though as Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantra, who missed the World Cup with a knee injury, returned to training. He warmed up with the first team before undergoing an individual training routine, although he is several weeks away from playing.
Rafinha and Javi Martinez are long-term absences.
Bayern lie second in the Bundesliga, with seven points after three matches, but they have struggled to express themselves in laboured wins over Stuttgart and Wolfsburg, and were held to a 1-1 draw by Schalke.
The reigning Bundesliga champions were easily beaten by Real Madrid in last season's semi-finals, but arguably have the strongest squad in Europe and are expected to challenge again this term.
