Chelsea

The Premier League champions are in pot one, and could face Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues were knocked out of the Champions League by PSG in both 2015 and 2016 – revenge could well be on the menu if they are drawn against the Ligue 1 outfit.
Best-case scenario: Porto, Anderlecht, Maribor
Worst-case scenario: Barcelona, Napoli, CSKA Moscow

Tottenham

Spurs failed to qualify for the knock-out stages last year, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men will have to overcome their Wembley hoodoo if they want to advance. Their pot three placing means a couple of tough clubs could fall into their group.

Worst-case scenario: Real Madrid, PSG, CSKA Moscow

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s side are in pot two for the Spaniard’s second season at the Etihad. Having been knocked at the last-16 stage last year, the pressure will be on City to make at least the semi-finals.

Manchester United

United’s rich reward for winning the Europa League last season was a place in this year’s Champions League. Jose Mourinho’s side join City in pot two, and while they can avoid the likes of Barcelona and PSG, Old Trafford could play host to Real Madrid or Juventus before Christmas.
