Tottenham crashed out of the Europa League after a 2-0 defeat against Fiorentina. Two costly defensive errors allowed Mario Gomez and Mohamed Salah to score and seal a 3-1 aggregate victory for the Italian side.
In the 54th minute, Spurs' Federico Fazio gave the ball away on the halfway line to Milan Badelj, who put Gomez through one-on-one to score past Hugo Lloris.
Salah scored Fiorentina’s second, beating Jan Vertonghen to finish emphatically into the top corner. The Egyptian, on loan from Chelsea, was a handful for Spurs all evening.
Mauricio Pochettino made seven changes, with one eye on the League Cup final against Chelsea, as Roberto Soldado started up front in place of Harry Kane.
Soldado had a night to forget, misjudging an easy pass to Nacer Chadli after the pair were clean through on goal in the first half.
Spurs will rue these mistakes and hope they are not repeated at Wembley on Sunday.

KEY MOMENTS
9’ - CHANCE! Christian Eriksen tees up Erik Lamela on the edge of the box, whose half-volley goes straight to Neto in the Fiorentina goal. Eriksen wins it back and breaks into the box - he goes down but it's not a penalty.
13’ - OFFSIDE! Salah was through again for Fiorentina but was marginally offside. He's already causing Spurs a number of problems.
24’ - INJURY! Fiorentina's Matias Fernandez comes off injured and former Liverpool man Alberto Aquilani is on in his place.
28’ - MISS! Awful miss from Spurs! Soldado and Chadli are completely through on goal, the Spaniard tries to slip in his team-mate but Neto claims it easily. Far too nonchalant from Soldado.

41’ - OVER! Salah is played through but he blasts over. Not an easy chance but you'd expect him to do slightly better.
54’ - GOAL! Fiorentina 1-0 Spurs. Nightmare for Spurs. Fazio gives it away on the halfway and Gomez is slipped through, one-on-one. A cool finish by the former German Intenational gives his side the lead.
61’ - SAVE! Huge save from Lloris to keep Spurs in the tie. Fiorentina break and Salah can't beat the French keeper from close range.
62’ - GAMBLE! Double substitution for Spurs: Harry Kane and Andros Townsend are on for Bentaleb and Chadli. Game on.
70’ - GOAL! Fiorentina 2-0 Spurs. It's that man Salah with the goal that could well send Spurs out of Europe. Spurs switch off again and the Egyptian is allowed to play a one-two with Gomez before bursting into the box and smashing it into the top corner.
90’+2 - SHOWBOATING! Pasqual slips in Salah and the Egyptian plays it about with his team-mates. "Oles" ring out at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The home crowd are enjoying this.

KEY STATS
Fiorentina have kept five clean sheets in five home meetings with English sides, winning four (all 2-0) and drawing one. (via OptaJoe)
Tottenham had not won a knockout game away since February 2011, when Peter Crouch’s goal earned a 1-0 win against AC Milan at the San Siro.
This was Spurs' 44th competitive game this season - more than any other Premier League side.
TALKING POINT
How did Soldado miss?! Tottenham’s £26 million man, Roberto Soldado, made another unfortunate error that cost his side dearly. The Spaniard, well known for his blunders, added another to his collection when he misjudged a straight-forward pass to Chadli when he might have been better off shooting. Fiorentina’s goalkeeper Neto collected the ball easily and Fiorentina were off the hook. A first half goal could have really changed the game for Spurs.
