Everton winger Yannick Bolasie will have surgery after suffering a serious knee ligament injury in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The summer signing from Crystal Palace looks set for a long spell on the sidelines after scans revealed he had sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage, which requires an operation.
The club tweeted: " Yannick Bolasie to undergo knee surgery after scans confirmed a serious ligament injury against @ManUtd. Come back stronger, Yannick."
The 27-year-old, who signed for the Toffees in August for a club record fee of £30 million, came off in the second half of the match on Sunday after clashing with Anthony Martial.
Congolese Bolasie is due to undergo surgery in the coming days, the club confirmed.
Reports suggest Bolasie could now miss the rest of the season, as well as the chance to play for his country in the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
