West Ham goalkeeper Adrian sent his side through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after converting his side's ninth penalty after a 2-2 draw against Everton.
The first half was evenly contested, and both sides went close. Both teams were near to full strength, and West Ham's strikers both had early chances when Andy Carroll headed against the post after Joel Robles had saved one-on-one against Enner Valencia.
10 minutes later, Everton almost went ahead when Aiden McGeady aimed a shot at the top corner that Adrian beat away, and West Ham later had Aaron Cresswell to thank for a last-ditch block.
In the second half, West Ham quickly went ahead when Carroll found Valencia's run into the box, and he slid his shot past Robles. Five minutes later, Aidan McGeady received a yellow card for a witless late challenge on Frank Noble.
Kevin Mirallas fired in a dramatic equaliser in the 82nd minute, curling in a free kick from the corner of the penalty box. Mirallas then set up Lukaku in extra time, crossing for him to tap in from a few yards out. West Ham finally hit back in the second half of extra time, when Carlton Cole stabbed home James Tomkins' knockdown.
The match then went to penalties, which saw Adrian score the winning penalty after his opposite number crashed his shot against the bar.

KEY EVENTS
12' - JOEL SAVE - Stones loses the ball on the edge of the box, and Valencia steals in, beats another defender and tries to lift the ball over Joel, and it flicks off the 'keeper into the direction of Carroll who heads against the post - he is, however, offside.
21' - ADRIAN SAVE - The ball drops to McGeady in the box, and he aims a lazy shot to the top corner that Adrian palms away well.
44' - CRESSWELL BLOCK - Everton clear a Downing cross, and West Ham retain possession briefly, and now Everton break down the right. Lukaku finds Naismith, who slides in a pass for McGeady, just a few yards out, and Cresswell covers brilliantly with a sliding tackle to concede a corner and stop the chance.
51' - GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Everton. Valencia scores - West Ham break, Carroll pings a ball into the path of Valencia, who pulls the ball across Joel.
56' - RED CARD - McGeady is off - It's a daft challenge. He slides in late on Noble, who is heading nowhere but the wings, away from goal, and is rightly booked again.
78' - TOMKINS BLOCK - Collins boots a ball straight at Lukaku and Lukaku takes the ball left. He spots Mirallas in the six yard box and picks him out, but Tomkins blocks his shot with a wonderfully timed intervention.
80' - ROBLES SAVE - Collins attacks a corner on the right and heads to the top corner, and Robles' does brilliantly to reach the ball to tip it over.
82' - GOAL! West Ham 1-1 Everton. Mirallas scores - Free kick for Everton, from the corner of the box. He hits the near top corner, lifting it over the wall, and Adrian can't get across quickly enough.
88' - NOBLE FREE KICK - Noble whips in a shot from a tighter angle than Mirallas had, but Robles gets down to save.
89' - ROBLES SAVE - Robles does brilliantly to tip over from Nolan's volley.
97' - GOAL! West Ham 1-2 Everton. Lukaku scores - Mirallas beats three men, running in a circle and then into the box, and finds Lukaku who can tap in from two yards out.
113' - GOAL! West Ham 2-2 Everton. Cole scores - A corner on the left, headed across the box by Tomkins, and Cole stabs home.
PENALTIES - ADRIAN WINNER - After Robles slams his penalty against the crossbar, Adrian fires his shot past the Everton 'keeper to send his side through.

KEY STATS
West Ham played in their third kit, at home, which is purple. Their first kit is claret, and there are, amazingly, still 2,000 of the kits left to be sold.
Valencia scored just his fourth goal of the season after a bright start.
Stewart Downing was the only West Ham player to miss a penalty.
TALKING POINT
Can Everton recover from such a disappointment? To go down to 10 men away from home, come back to go ahead in extra time, only to concede a late goal to Carlton Cole, and then go out to a goalkeeper's penalty in a shootout must be a bitter blow. Everton are struggling for form and confidence under Roberto Martinez this season, and were so close to a vital boost.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Kevin Mirallas (Everton): It's rare for a substitute to have such an effect on the game beyond just a late intervention, but Mirallas scored the equaliser and set up what looked to be Everton's winner. Prone to injury and inconsistency, this was a timely reminder of why, with Aiden McGeady sent off, Everton should turn to him in their next game.
