A muscle strain will keep Gareth Bale from playing a part in Villarreal’s visit to Real Madrid on Wednesday, Zinedine Zidane has confirmed.
It was reported on Tuesday morning that Bale hadn’t taken a full part in training, working only in the gym while his team-mates were put through their paces, and Zidane revealed at a pre-match Press conference that Bale would miss the game.
"He will miss tomorrow's game but hopefully he will be back for the next game," said Zidane.
When the Frenchman was asked what the exact nature of Bale's injury was he answered: "I'm not part of the medical team."
Bale was left out of the Wales squad for the March friendlies against Northern Ireland and Ukraine as he recovered from a calf injury.
The injury is described by Marca as "minor" and more of a precaution than anything else.
Madrid are already definitely without Dani Carvajal against fourth-place Villarreal as the right-back is suffering with a quadriceps muscle injury.
