Bayern were dominant from the whistle, with Franck Ribery pulling all the strings in a marvellous first-half display.
There will be plenty of questions asked about the future of Inter coach Roberto Mancini; there were rumours swirling already about whether he would stay in his job and a lacklustre performance like this will do nothing to secure it.
Green opened the scoring in the seventh minute and had completed his hat-trick shortly after the first drinks break of the afternoon, capitalising on a shaky Inter defence who were unable to cope with the precision and incision of Rafinha or David Alaba.
Ribery added to Bayern's tally, unmarked in the area and rewarding great strength and persistence from Fabian Benko.
As with any friendly, a vast number of changes in the second half changed the dynamic somewhat, and substitute Mauro Icardi managed to grab a late consolation, latching on to a loose ball by Alaba and walking it home.

TALKING POINT

What will become of Roberto Mancini? There was already gossip about the new club directors meeting this weekend in an attempt to talk out some of the issues - will they agree that they need to find a new coach?

MAN OF THE MATCH

Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich). A virtuoso display, even if only 45 minutes long; he made the difference, orchestrating the Bayern dominance.

KEY MOMENTS

7' GOAL! So, so easy for Bayern, good ball in, hard in from David Alaba, who spots Julian Green, who fires in brilliantly.
12' GOAL! Simply too easy for Bayern. Battling from Benko, holding the ball up well under severe pressure from a trio of Inter players in the box, and he squeezes it through to Ribery, who's unmarked in the middle and easily fires that home.
30' GOAL! Ah, just too easy. Julian Green gets his second, neatly into the net on the diagonal after a nifty little tap from Ribery.
35' GOAL! Yeah, not so much. That's a hat-trick for Julian Green, happily in space in the centre to turn in Rafinha's drilled cross.
90' GOAL! A very late consolation from Icardi, picking up a loose ball from Alaba in the centre circle and walking it into the net.
