Medford handed role

Hernan Medford has been charged with the responsibility of guiding Costa Rica to the 2010 World Cup finals.

The former Saprissa boss represented his country at both the 1990 and 2002 World Cup finals.

The Costa Rican Soccer Federation opted for the 38-year-old ahead of the likes of Carlos Watson de Herediano and Carlos Restrepo.

"It is clear that Mr Hernan is capable of taking us to the next World Cup," said president Walter Niehaus.
