The Barcelona midfielder also says the Blaugrana will be going all out to win every competition in which they are involved this year.
“My stats haven’t been good this season, far from it, but I’ve never looked at my game purely in terms of statistics,” he told Onda Cero’s ‘Al Primer Toque’ programme.
“Even so, I’m still happy with what I’ve done even if things sometimes don’t go as planned. I’m my biggest critic so nobody needs to point anything out to me.
“After the disappointment of last year’s World Cup it was hard and there were doubts, but an athlete must always be prepared.
“Right now fatigue is a secondary issue and the desire to win everything this year far outweighs that. We are heading into the final stretch with the opportunity to battle it out for everything.”
Iniesta also admitted he has not been surprised by Real Madrid this season.
“Madrid never surprise me because they are always powerful. The other day in El Clasico they had all kinds of moments.
“Winning the Clasico was a great boost for us but afterwards people will see things in their own way as regards looking ahead,” he maintained.

Iniesta is right. His game is about much more than statistics. And considering the fact that he is operating in a much deeper role this season it is not surprising that his ‘attacking’ stats have suffered. Iniesta remains an integral part of the Barcelona set up – if anything, he should be being praised for modifying his game.
