Real Madrid send Barcelona congratulatory letter, force them to pay €23.98 postage

According to a report in Spain, Barcelona have been forced to pay over €20 to receive a congratulatory letter from rivals Real Madrid on their astonishing season.
Luis Enrique’s side secured an incredible treble – Barcelona’s second in six years – as they claimed the Liga title and Copa del Rey before beating Juventus to win the Champions League in Berlin.
It was expected, in this age of social media, that Barca’s most fierce rivals Real Madrid would congratulate Barcelona on Twitter, though the tweet was never sent – something which Madrid have been criticised for.
However, they went one better. Well, sort of…
Rafael Benitez’s new side went old school in congratulating their Spanish rivals, instead opting to send a letter to Catalunya. But there was a sting in the tail.
As revealed by Spanish daily newspaper Sport, Barcelona were forced to pay the postage fee.
The report states: “Later, after realising it was too late to send a message on social media, Madrid sent a traditional letter. It was a gesture which was publicly thanked by FC Barcelona.
“However, it's now become known, through information revealed by Javier Gomez Matallanas in Diario AS, that Barca were left complexed at having to pay 23.98 euros because Real Madrid sent it without paying for the special delivery.
“It was a surprise and a price which the Catalan club reluctantly had to pay.”
Real Madrid may have got one over on their foes, but with another three trophies added to their cabinet this season, Barcelona definitely had the last laugh.
