Evian Thonon Gaillard forward Sidney Govou has been ruled out for six months with a serious knee injury.
The former France international ruptured the patellar tendon in his left knee during Saturday's game against Lille and announced on Twitter that his season was over.
He will undergo surgery on Tuesday and will be sidelined until September as a result.
Govour tweeted: "Operation planned Tuesday morning ... thanks again to you all."
The forward won 49 caps for France after rising to prominence with the Lyon side that dominated Ligue 1 in the first decade of the new millennium.
He signed for Evian in 2011.
