Ligue 1’s leading scorer Alexandre Lacazette scored a brace to help Lyon to a comfortable 3-0 win over Caen – their eighth victory in a row.
Hubert Fournier’s side have lost just once in 14 matches, stretching back to September, and got off to the best possible start as Lacazette fired the hosts home in the seventh minute, converting from the penalty spot.
Caen had conceded eight goals in their previous two matches, and kept the scoreline to 1-0 up until the 60th minute as Lacazette doubled his tally.
Samuel Umtiti did well to cushion the ball down to Lacazette from a Lyon corner, and the striker made no mistake in controlling before lashing the ball past the visiting goalkeeper.
Lyon added their third of the evening soon after when Yasine Benzia drove home from 16 yards.
And with just less than quarter of an hour to go, Caen conceded their 11th penalty of the season as Nabil Fekir was fouled by Jordan Adeoti.
Fekir stepped up to take the penalty himself, but saw his spot-kick saved by Remy Vercoutre.
