Jordon Forster (hamstring) has dropped out after going off injured against Rangers but Dominique Malonga is expected to shake off a knee problem.
Daniel Handling is out with a serious knee injury while Farid El Alagui and Martin Boyle are recovering from knee surgery, the latter being suspended anyway.
Marvin Bartley is in line for his debut but James Keatings and Dan Carmichael might have to wait another week.
McGinn said: "I'm delighted to be here. It's been a long summer."
Montrose will give former Forfar goalkeeper Ross Salmon a debut at Easter Road after St Johnstone blocked the use of Jordan Millar, who is on loan with the Links Park club, as they did not wish him cup-tied.
Graham Webster returns from a ban and manager Paul Hegarty has Ryan Kenneth and Ross Campbell available after holiday commitments as he gets his side ready to face determined hosts.
Hegarty said: "Hibs will have been hurt by the 6-2 defeat from Rangers last weekend and will be out to put things right. We will need to be very mindful of that and look to put on a strong and resolute performance."
