Christian Eriksen scored a late winner as Tottenham fought back to beat 10-man Hull City 2-1 in a controversial encounter at the KC Stadium.
Hull were cruising after ex-Spur Jake Livermore rifled home the opener, but the dismissal of Gaston Ramirez for an off-the-ball altercation swung the match in Tottenham’s favour.
And the visitors drew level when Harry Kane prodded home after Christian Eriksen’s free-kick had crashed against the woodwork, before the Dane popped up late on to sweep home a fine winner in the 90th minute.
It was incredibly harsh on Hull who impressed throughout, with another former Spurs player Michael Dawson impressing in defence.
The game was practically a repeat of Tottenham’s victory at Aston Villa earlier in November, when Christian Benteke’s red card was the catalyst for them to earn a last-gasp 2-1 comeback win.
Victory carried Tottenham into the top half – just two points adrift of the Champions League places – with Hull perched just a point above the drop zone.

KEY MOMENTS
8’ – GOAL! Hull 1-0 Spurs. What a hit! Jake Livermore arrows a glorious low shot into the corner. Not that you’d know it – the lad isn’t interested in celebrating against his former club.
19’ – MADNESS! Lloris charges out of his six-yard box to claim a looping free-kick. The Frenchman flaps at the ball and prances around as his team-mates ensure the ball doesn’t end up in the net. Oops.
21’ – STUNNING SAVE! Lloris drops to his left to stop a Robbie Brady effort. Quality stuff. Just moments later the stopper makes a mess of a simple shot and is relieved to see Ben Arfa blast over from close range.
50’ RED CARD! Disaster for Gaston Ramirez. The linesman spots an infringement, prompting the referee to wander over and enquire. And, just like that, Ramirez is ordered off the pitch. Spotted a replay: he sort of lashes out at Vertonghen. But that should never be a dismissal.
61’ – GOAL! Hull 1-1 Spurs. Eriksen watches forlornly as his glorious free-kick crashes against the post. Not to worry, Kane is on hand to poke home the rebound.
67’ – SITTER ALERT! Soldado is unmarked in the penalty area, but somehow sends his first-time effort wide of the gaping corner. He's had a shocker with that.
68’ – AND ANOTHER! Lennon whips in a quality cross - yep, we can't believe it either - but Kane inexplicably nods wide from about a yard out. Awful miss.
73’ – CHANCE! Oh, Erik! The Argentine does superbly to weave through the loose Hull limbs, but blazes his effort over the crossbar. Huge opportunity.
90’ – GOAL! Hull 1-2 Spurs. The visitors have snatched victory! Eriksen with the goal, sending a fine low shot into the far corner. It’s Aston Villa all over again!
KEY STATS
Déjà vu? Spurs' last away match saw them 1-0 down at the break, before the opposition saw a player sent off, followed by a Spurs equaliser, itself followed by a late Spurs winner.
With this result, both teams are three points worse off than at this stage last season (17 points vs. 20 for Spurs, 11 vs. 14 for Hull)
Spur’s last four PL matches have all ended 2-1 to the away side
That was Ramirez’s second PL red card of his career – he also saw red for Southampton against West Brom on 27 April 2013.
Tottenham win consecutive away PL matches for the first time since December – January (5)

TALKING POINT
Surely Spurs can’t finish in the Champions League places? It seems inconceivable, but Tottenham are sitting just two points adrift of the top four. They’re ahead of Liverpool, level on points with Arsenal and Everton, despite lacking a gameplan in pretty much every match.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Christian Eriksen (Tottenham): Aside from his terrible corners, the Dane was influential for the visitors before grabbing the winning goal. Michael Dawson a close second.
