Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard looks set for a tribute match on March 29 that will involve Reds legend Jamie Carragher.
With Gerrard departing for the LA Galaxy at the end of the current Premier League season, it is expected that the 34-year-old will feature in a farewell match to honour his 17-year allegiance with the Merseyside club.
The Whiston-born former England captain devoted his career to playing for Liverpool and guided the Reds to Champions League success in 2005 and multiple domestic trophies and will be given a proper send off.
The tribute match, which will be played at Gerrard’s beloved Anfield, will include a host of former team-mates and it is reported that a number of international stars have been asked to feature. Jamie Carragher – Gerrard’s former Liverpool team-mate – has apparently put plans to launch his New York-based bar on hold so he can take part.
It is believed that the match will take place on March 29 which will coincide with the international break – when England take on Lithuania and Italy.
