Theo Walcott hat-trick rounds off Arsenal's league season against West Brom

A first-half hat-trick from Theo Walcott plus a goal from Jack Wilshere rounded off Arsenal's Premier League season with a flourish against West Brom.

West Brom went in 4-0 down at the break and were fortunate that it was only by that margin. Arsenal were by far the better side, with Walcott and Wilshere both looking pacy, skilful and sharp after their injury troubles.

Walcott needed less than five minutes to open the scoring in spectacular fashion, firing into the top corner, and he followed that 10 minutes later with some tenacity after Wilshere did the leg work.

Wilshere's single goal was perhaps the pick, a terrific volley from the edge of the box, and Walcott secured his hat-trick with a tap-in just before the break.

West Brom reclaimed a little dignity as Gareth McAuley scored a second-half consolation from a corner, and Tony Pulis's personnel changes managed to shore up the defence.

4' - GOAL! And it's a terrific one from Theo Walcott, creating himself space in the box and lashing home into the top corner.

14' - GOAL! And that's Theo Walcott's second! He harries the West Brom defence well after Wilshere causes havoc, and punts it home.

17' - GOAL! And there's the third! Jack Wilshere! Terrific goal, smashing it home on the volley from the edge of the box - and he, like Walcott, is right across to the physio for hugs and thanks.

37' - GOAL! It's Theo Walcott's hat-trick! It's a straightforward enough tap-in for him, but smart work from Walcott and more great approach play - it's a cross from Wilshere as well, mark you.

57' - GOAL! And that's a goal back courtesy of Gareth McAuley, who outjumps David Ospina.

West Brom conceded four goals before half-time in a Premier League game for the first time.

The 3-0 lead by Arsenal after 17 mins is the fastest three-goal lead on a final matchday in the Premier League era.

Walcott joined Thierry Henry (2006) and Freddie Ljungberg (2003) as Arsenal players to score a hat-trick on the final matchday of a Premier League season.
