Brendan Rodgers ‘bids £8m for Southampton chair’

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has bid £8 million for a chair with a Southampton logo, Saints legend Francis Benali cheekily declared on Twitter.

Benali was poking fun at the Reds’ transfer policy, which saw Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert swap St Mary’s for Anfield last summer and Nathaniel Clyne sign on Wednesday.
Last year’s trio failed to make a major impact, although Lallana impressed in small spurts, with Liverpool struggling to get a meaningful return on their £49m outlay.
They will just have to hope the integration of Clyne, who arrived for £12.5m, is the catalyst for the ex-Saints to rediscover their form.
