Has Peter Crouch accidentally confirmed Stoke City’s transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri?

Peter Crouch is either getting prematurely excited or he’s blown the cover on Stoke City’s deal with Inter for Xherdan Shaqiri.

A wave of sensational reports swept across the nation on Wednesday which suggested the Potters’ audacious £12 million bid for the Switzerland star had been accepted.

The striker tweeted “Shaquiri” that evening, before quickly posting again to: a) admit his spelling mistake, and b) to voice approval of the transfer, suggesting it was already sewn up.

Shaqiri, 23, joined Inter from Bayern Munich in January.

He scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Honduras at the World Cup last summer, but could only fire three goals in 20 appearances for his Italian employers in 2015.
