Manchester United could sell Angel Di Maria this summer and use the cash from the sale to fund their move for Gareth Bale, according to the latest gossip.

United could sell Di Maria and buy Bale: Manchester United are set to sell £60 million signing Angel Di Maria while they hope to use the money to bring Gareth Bale to the club from Real Madrid, says the Sunday Express. The paper says Di Maria is unhappy under Louis van Gaal, and is "contemplating" his future. The paper also indicates that Di Maria hasn't put down roots in the city as he continues to rent Phil Neville's old flat.
Paper Round's view: Would be odd if Di Maria is flogged after one season. And even more bizarre if they can tempt Bale to depart his lifestyle in Madrid for Manchester. You get the feeling the Express have put two and two together and come up with five. Basically, the whole backbone of the story is based on their form this season. Neither have been pulling up trees, but form is temporary, class is permanent. Expect both men to remain where they are next season unless some nonsensical figures are offered. Football being football, you can next write that off.

Roma could land Milner: Roma are keen to sign James Milner from Manchester City in an £18.1 million deal from Roma including a £2.5 million signing on fee. Milner will be on £100,000 for three years if he decides to quit the Etihad Stadium on a free for Serie A this summer, says the Daily Star. Roma's director of football Walter Sabatini has apparently already opened up discussions with the England midfielder.
Paper Round's view: Great player, and it is of little surprise that he is attracting attention from elsewhere. City remain confident Milner will remain at City as he has recently become a father, but money talks. And everybody has their price. It will all depend on what City are willing to offer. One imagines the figures mentioned in the Star story would be difficult to turn down.

Jack Wilshere

City set to turn to best of British: Manchester City are preparing a £30 million bid to sign Jack Wilshere from Arsenal while they are also weighing up moves for Ross Barkley from Everton and defender Aaron Cresswell of West Ham, according to the Daily Star.
Paper Round's view: This one is obviously prompted by a recognition that City can't continue to ignore English players. Or can they? Not only does the paper mention Wilshere, Barkley and Cresswell it also goes on to suggest they are keen on Monaco’s Layvin Kurzawa. Will Wilshere and Barkley prompt City to challenge for the title? Take this one with a large pinch of salt. City will only sign English or British players if they are good enough. The nationality doesn't really come into it.

United join Ings hunt: Manchester United are set to battle it out with Manchester City and Liverpool to bring Burnley striker Danny Ings to Old Trafford this summer, says the Sun on Sunday.
Paper Round's view: They all seem to be hovering around Ings now. Little wonder. If he can score goals for Burnley, imagine what he could do for a leading Premier League side? United are among several clubs to have been linked with Ings, who has scored nine goals for Burnley this season and is out of contract in the summer. Burnley manager Sean Dyche is resigned to losing the forward. "He has been very good in his performance level, very good around the group and wants to do well for this football club," said Dyche. "The rest will take care of itself." And it will.

Newcastle study Swiss striker: Newcastle United are apparently interested in signing Senegal forward Moussa Konate from FC Sion, says the Mail on Sunday.
Paper Round's view: Sounds plausible for a figure who has scored six goals in 14 games for his club. Newcastle's head of recruitment Steve Nixon is apparently set to watch the player on Sunday against Young Boys of Berne. Newcastle fans would love to see one of these blokes remain at the club in the long term rather than be used as a stepping stone to a bigger Premier League outfit. Konate certainly fits the bill for Newcastle. We wait to see what report Nixon brings back.

Liverpool's English midfielder Steven Gerrard (R) gives the captain's armband to Liverpool's English midfielder Jordan Henderson

Henderson talks stall: Liverpool are apparently struggling to keep Jordan Henderson at the club. Henderson has been offered £80,000 a week to stay at Anfield, but is no closer to agreeing a deal, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Paper Round's view: Henderson has been tipped to succeed Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain, but it seems the captain's armband won't be enough to persuade Henderson to remain at Anfield. Henderson has been offered £15,000-a-week more in wages to commit his future to Liverpool, but it remains doubtful whether or not that will be enough to keep Henderson happy. Henderson has one more year to run on his contract after this summer, and Liverpool won't short of interested parties to take him off their hands. Manchester City and Arsenal are sniffing around if the newspaper is to be believed.
