Real Madrid and Bayern Munich want Harry Kane

Harry Kane’s goalscoring heroics for Tottenham have caught the eye of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, with the Evening Standard claiming “both Real and Bayern have asked to be kept informed of his plans.” Kane is happy at Tottenham and is likely to land a new contract at the end of the season, but his continued excellence makes him an increasingly hot property for Europe’s top clubs.
Paper Round’s view: There’s nothing in here that need imminently worry Tottenham fans – but he does seem to be inching into Gareth Bale territory. There may come a time when Spurs find the interest in Kane impossible to resist, but that time is surely years away, especially if Tottenham keep challenging for trophies and qualifying for the Champions League.

Chelsea close in on Antoine Griezmann

The Daily Mirror says Chelsea will offer Antoine Griezmann a huge contract as they aim to land the striker from Atletico Madrid. Antonio Conte will have money to spend on wages if the Blues succeed in offloading Falcao, Pato and Loic Remy.
Paper Round’s view: There is no real evidence in this story, nor a suggested price tag – though that is not to say Chelsea aren’t interested. A big wage packet is about all Chelsea can offer Griezmann right now, and you might ask why he would leave an Atletico Madrid side that are in the last four of the Champions League and joint top of La Liga. But Atleti do sell their forwards (and are exceptionally good at replacing them) so this is not impossible.

Mourinho will sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has sanctioned moves for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, John Stones and Renato Sanches if he joins Manchester United, according to The Sun. Mourinho has already drawn up a shopping list and he will move for Ibrahimovic despite recent talk the Swede might stay at PSG.
Paper Round’s view: It would be unsurprising if Jose Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford with a shopping list, but right now he doesn’t have a job so it is unclear to whom he has “sanctioned” this spending spree. There is talk that Mourinho is already in contact with United’s players but this Sun story adds little to what we already know.

Chelsea want Fraser Forster to replace Courtois

Antonio Conte is ready to move for Southampton’s Fraser Forster if Thibaut Courtois leaves the club, according to the Daily Mirror. Courtois has endured a rocky season and is a reported target for Real Madrid. Should the Belgium leave, Chelsea are keen on Forster to compete with Asmir Begovic for the number one shirt. The Mirror report says: “Chelsea’s reports and checks on Forster have been glowing and they will move given any encouragement.”
Paper Round’s view: Courtois’ form has dipped alarmingly this season and it would not be a surprise if he left Stamford Bridge. The giant Forster has been on fine form since returning from injury, but is he agile enough to be considered a truly elite goalkeeper? Southampton will sell their players if the price is right – but the 28-year-old may be reluctant to swap guaranteed first-team football for a battle with Begovic, especially given the lack of European football at Chelsea.
