Lewandowski holds talks with Real Madrid

Bayern Munich's Polish international Robert Lewandowski looks set for the exit, as Real Madrid is set to launch a bid according to the Daily Mail. The report says that despite the fact Lewandowski has three years left on his contract, the Polish striker failed to agree to contract extension with the club and has made it no secret he'd like a change of scenery. Madrid would have to stump up more than £50 million to get Lewandowski to the club.
Paper Round's view: Lewandowski is Galactico material with 103 goals from 187 Dortmund starts and 67 goals from 100 Bayern starts. The question is, who gets pushed out at Madrid if and when they stump up the cash? Karim Benzema has had a run of troubles with the club, so expect a bidding war for services if the Frenchman falls down the pecking order because of Lewandowski's arrival.

Barcelona prepare £25million bid for John Stones

Barcelona will make an offer to Everton's John Stones this week, believed to be around £25million according to the Daily Mail. This bid by Barcelona is, according to the report, well short of the £45 million valuation that Everton have for the centre back. The Catalans had previously gone a little cold on Stones, but are now back in the market after it's believed that main target Marquinhos will now stay at Paris Saint-Germain. It's also thought that Manchester United and City will join the bidding war for Stones, ensuring the saga will drag out through the summer.

Paper Round's view: As much as Everton's valuation of £45million seems a little absurd considering Stones' season, the bidding war that's set to occur due to Premier League giants getting involved, will push the end figure closer to that. Both City and United are prepared to spend big bucks getting their targets to their clubs, so Barcelona could be priced out of the market very quickly.

Antonio Conte and Chelsea in constant contact with Paul Pogba

The Sun are reporting that incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has made Juventus' Paul Pogba a transfer priority, with any deal set to be worth £76 million. The French box-to-box midfielder has been targeted by a range of European football's elite, including both Real Madrid and Barcelona. The report believes that Chelsea are leading the race for Pogba, as Antonio Conte - the man who brought him from Man United to Juve - has said the club must prioritise signing Pogba despite the high price. It is also believed that Manchester United are also interested in their former prodigy, who left after friction between Sir Alex Ferguson and his agent Mino Raiola.

Paper Round's view: It's been a twelve-month waiting game for Pogba, linked to every super club in Europe. Considering the open-ended choice, it's down to whoever can meet that earth-shattering transfer fee. City and United, despite interest, need to buy a range of players and can't put all their eggs in one basket. Barcelona, Madrid and Chelsea are only looking for a few upgrades here and there, so they won't break a sweat with the fee and expect them to be in the box seat.

Leicester's £18million bid for Steven N'Zonzi rejected by Sevilla

The Mirror are reporting that Leicester City's £18 million bid for Sevilla's Steven N'Zonzi has failed, but the champions remain hopeful as he seeks a Premier League return. N'Zonzi left Stoke last season for La Liga, as the midfielder helped Sevilla return to form in La Liga and played a role in taking the club to a third-straight Europa League title. The report says that the 27-year-old wants to play in the Champions League, as Leicester seek to recruit reinforcements given that N'Golo Kante could be out the door. Sevilla have insisted his buyout clause is £21million and other Premier League clubs could be interested in N'Zonzi's services.

Paper Round's view: Not a like for like replacement for Kante, but an experienced body which is there about European quality. £21million is a steep price, but will be more than likely be covered by with the funds they receive from any deal involving Kante.
