Guardiola tells City he wants eight new starters

The incoming Pep Guardiola has told his new club Manchester City the team needs to be completely overhauled, according to the Mirror. The report says the board believe such changes will take two summer transfer windows, with most of his targets valued at £25 million and over. Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho and Vincent Kompany are the only players in Guardiola's long term plans, while the club are working on deals for Ilkay Gundogan, Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane. John Stones, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Rose have also been discussed as possible summer transfer targets.
Paper Round's view: Eight starting line up changes is incredible, and also means Manchester City fans may need to have patience. Chemistry takes a while to build in a team that has three or four new faces, but eight definitely means the Guardiola project's end game is more than a few years away.

Liverpool target Sadio Mane after Gotze transfer saga continues

The Reds have put Southampton's Sadio Mane on their summer transfer wishlist, according to the Daily Mail. The report says that moves for another pacey target, Mario Gotze, have been put on hold as the German has not committed to a move away from Bayern Munich. New manager Carlo Ancelotti and the Bayern hierarchy have tried to convince Gotze to stay, despite reiterating that his role would continue to be minimal. Liverpool's interest in Mane adds to Manchester United and Tottenham's enquiries, as the Senegalese attacking midfielder and wide player now has a range of clubs moving for his services.

Paper Round's view: Manchester United, even with Jose Mourinho in the hot seat, would be getting a little nervous as they've staked heavy interest in Mane too. Mourinho is a great manager, but so is Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham have immediate Champions League football on offer for new recruits. Times have changed and United may have to up their wage offer to get this one over the line.

Roma and West Ham in battle for Newcastle's Georginio Wijnaldum

The Daily Mail are reporting that Roma and West Ham are set to go head to head to sign Newcastle winger Georginio Wijnaldum. The report says that 25 year old Holland international's agent has claimed that the player has to think about is future, in the wake of Newcastle's relegation from the Premier League. Roma and West Ham are keen on the Dutch winger, who arrived at St. James Park from PSV last season and found the net 11 times in his debut season for Newcastle.

Paper Round's view: Wijnaldum has a heap of talent, but he and a lot his team mates went missing in the middle of the season when Newcastle could have arrested the nose dive into the relegation zone. He has finesse and skill, but both Roma and West Ham should be demanding he play to his capabilities.

Leicester set to sign Luis Hernandez from Sporting Gijon

The Sun are reporting that Leicester City are in the box seat to land central defender Luis Hernandez on a free transfer. The Sporting Gijon centre-half played a key role in keeping the club in La Liga this season after they were newly promoted. Hernandez has already told Gijon he'll be leaving the club, with Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri wanting experienced cover for Wes Morgan and Robert Huth heading into a Champions League campaign.
Paper Round's view: Luis Hernandez has pedigree, spending a large amount of time in Real Madrid's B and C teams. Like all in Leicester's squad, the expectation is he will tap into the talent he's had locked away for so long. It's not a bad gamble, as it's a low-risk free transfer that has potentially high gains.
