Conte furious again

We start with The Mirror who report that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is furious with the club looking likely to miss out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United. The report says that Conte's future is once again in doubt over the failure to land Lukaku as deals for other players continue to drag on.
Paper Round's view: Anyone else feel like we've been here before? Chelsea win a title and proceed to be totally incompetent in the window. For a club that is so well regarded for their ability to do business this is very worrying and for it to happen twice in three summers is astonishing.

Lukaku set for Man Utd medical in LA

Moving to The Sun it is reported that Lukaku, 24, is going to have his United medical overnight at UCLA, indeed he could well have completed it by the time you read this.
Meanwhile The Telegraph report that Lukaku's agent Mino Raiola was key in United stealing the march on Chelsea. Last summer three Raiola players signed for United; Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the agent's close relationship with United seems to have given them the edge in this case.
Paper Round's view: The whole Lukaku situation is remarkable given how Chelsea let it (or perhaps Raiola did) drag on and now United have jumped in. It is perhaps another example of the power certain agents have, particularly if reports of Lukaku's preference for Chelsea are to be believed.

Spurs and Liverpool target Gray wants assurances

Returning to The Mirror Demarai Gray is pushing Leicester City on his future as he feels he warrants more regular involved in the first team as a starter. The 21-year-old reportedly has no buyout clause and Leicester want to keep him but both Liverpool and Spurs are interested.
Paper Round's view: It seems rather counter-intuitive to move to Spurs or Liverpool given they're so far ahead of Leicester in the league but actually the former in particular would make sense. Spurs are crying out for some pace and Mauricio Pochettino has shown in the past that he is more than happy playing younger players if they are good enough and work hard enough.

Iheanacho set for £25m Leicester switch

Finally, in The Mail it is reported that Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is closing in on a move to Leicester for £25 million because, rather ironically given Gray's situation, he wants more regular football. The deal could be completed before Leicester go on tour but Craig Shakespeare will listen to offers for Islam Slimani in order to balance the books.
Paper Round's view: Iheanacho is still just 20 years of age yet he already has 12 Premier League goals under his belt. That's impressive when you consider how little he was actually used at City and this could end up being an extremely shrewd signing for the Foxes. It's perhaps strange that clubs like Spurs, Liverpool, Everton and Southampton haven't taken a look at the Nigerian.
