Rachel Yankey looking forward to Wembley spectacular in the Women's FA Cup Final

Legendary Arsenal winger Rachel Yankey won't play in this weekend's SSE Women's FA Cup Final - but that doesn't mean she's impartial, she tells Carrie Dunn.

She made a surprise loan move to Notts County at the start of the Women's Super League season, but she is still Arsenal through and through. Now 36, and save for a five-year interlude when she took the chance to play professionally at a time when the women's game in England was still largely amateur, she has spent her entire career at the club.
"I’m willing the girls on, I’m going to be totally biased, I want an Arsenal win, so I’m looking forward to it, and I’m hoping that it will be a fantastic game of football for both teams!" she says.
Arsenal, once the dominant force in England, have been usurped in recent years, and go into Saturday's final at Wembley (kick-off 2pm) against Chelsea as underdogs. In a WSL fixture a few weeks ago between the two sides, Chelsea emerged victorious by two goals to nil, but Yankey warns that cup football is very different.
"I’m sure the team will have learnt a lot from that game," she says. "I know everyone was disappointed not to come away from it with three points and disappointed with the performance. Arsenal know what they have to do, they have to be better than what they were before, better in all areas of the game and compete against Chelsea."

Though Yankey won't get the chance to play at Wembley this year, she has played there before for Team GB during the 2012 Olympics, plus her vast international experience means she's used to the biggest venues in the world. She's excited for those who will get their first taste of the big stage with the Women's FA Cup Final - a match she has won and a trophy she has lifted a remarkable 11 times.
"It’ll be new to some players and there will be nerves, but the majority of the players would have competed on that sort of stage before," she says. "I’m really hoping it’ll be an exciting game for them - and especially all the kids who have got the opportunity to go.
"It’s at Wembley, there’s going to be a lot of kids there - we need to show all those kids that women can play football, that both Arsenal and Chelsea have got terrific players - and we want to put a show on."
Rachel Yankey was speaking on behalf of SSE, official sponsor of The SSE Women's FA Cup. Tickets for The Final on May 14th are still available via TheFA.com/Tickets
