The Italian Ministry of Interior Affairs has announced the opening of a further 12 stadia for this weekend’s matches.
Messina, Modena and Reggio Calabria's stadia will open completely, while the grounds of Atalanta, Empoli, Fiorentina, Lecce, Livorno, Perugia, Pescara, Trieste, Udinese, and the Stadio Bentegodi, home of Chievo and Hellas Verona, will open to season ticket holders only.
So far 23 stadiums have met the tightened safety regulations put in by the government in the wake of the riots in Catania, where one a policeman was killed, and though Catania themselves have also started work on their ground to meet the new rules, they will be forced to play the rest of their matches on neutral ground after their appeal against the punishment was rejected.
The ministry also announced that Serie A matches scheduled for Wednesday 28th February will take place in the afternoon, with only Internazionale's game against Udinese at the Giuseppe Meazza to be played in the evening.
